Salary: $16.80 hourly, 30 to 40 hours per week (Minimum wage is guaranteed)

Employment Type: Permanent, Full time

Work Schedule: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Morning

Responsibilities:

As a Hairstylist at First Choice Haircutters, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Booking appointments
  • Cutting and trimming hair according to client’s instructions or preferences
  • Shampooing customers’ hair
  • Shaving and trimming beards and mustaches
  • Providing various hair treatments, such as waving, straightening, tinting, and scalp conditioning massages
  • Analyzing hair and scalp conditions and providing basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments
  • Applying bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses to color, frost, or streak hair
  • Cutting, trimming, tapering, curling, waving, perming, and styling hair
  • Suggesting hair styles compatible with client’s physical features or determining styles from client’s instructions and preferences
  • Performing receptionist duties

Credentials:

  • Hairstylist Licence
  • Experience and specialization in hair styling techniques, including blow drying, iron waving/curling, permanents, roller setting, and hair coloring techniques like bleach, dyes/tints, frosting, and streaking/highlights

Hairstylists and barbers cut and style hair and perform related services. They are employed in hairstyling or hairdressing salons, barber shops, vocational schools, health care establishments and theatre, film and television establishments. Apprentices are also included in this unit group.

Job Duties:

Hairstylists:

  1. Creating Perfect Styles: Hairstylists are the style architects, working closely with clients to suggest hairstyles that complement their unique physical features or bringing to life the style envisioned by the client.
  2. Mastering the Cut: With precision and creativity, hairstylists cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair, creating the perfect look that suits the individual.
  3. Color Magic: Applying bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses to add color, frost, or streaks to hair, creating eye-catching and personalized looks.
  4. Hair and Scalp Care: Going beyond the surface, hairstylists analyze hair and scalp conditions and offer advice or basic treatments to enhance beauty and health.
  5. Wig Wizards: They clean and style wigs and hairpieces, ensuring that every strand is in place, making them indistinguishable from natural hair.
  6. Extension Experts: Many hairstylists offer hair extension services, giving clients the length and volume they desire.
  7. Shampoo and More: In addition to styling, some hairstylists may also shampoo and rinse hair, offering a complete hair care experience.
  8. Receptionist Duties: At some salons, hairstylists may multitask by handling receptionist duties and ordering supplies.
