Financial Accountant Urgently needed by Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd.

A financial accountant in Canada is responsible for maintaining and reporting on the financial health of a company or organization. This may include preparing and analyzing financial statements, tracking and reconciling transactions, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing guidance and support to management on financial matters.

To become a financial accountant in Canada, you will typically need to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, and you may also be required to obtain professional certification, such as the Certified General Accountant (CGA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. In addition to education and certification, financial accountants should have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a solid understanding of financial principles and practices.

Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd (TLR) has a tremendous opportunity for a full-time permanent Financial Accountant to be based out of our new corporate offices near the airport in NE Calgary, Alberta.

TLR is the 25-year-old Property Management and Land Acquisition business for its sister company BURNCO Rock Products Ltd (BURNCO), a 110-year-old construction materials business.

As a Financial Accountant you will be Reporting directly to our Controller, the ideal Financial Accountant will possess an analytical mind, be self-motivated and proactive, as well as having excellent problem-solving skills.

What You Will Be Doing as a Financial Accountant

• Prepare general ledger entries related to fixed assets, prepaid assets, intercompany transfers, investments dividends, interest, corporate taxes and any other applicable general ledger accounts
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including but not limited to bank accounts, credit card statements, capital assets, prepaid assets, and intercompany balances
• Assist Corporate Tax consultants to prepare annual tax returns
• Prepare memos in relation to accounting policies and issues as they arise
• Assist with payment to vendors, including cheque sign off and EFT/Wire payments
• Coordinate corporate tax and GST filings and payments on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Liaise with the CRA in relation to corporate taxes, GST and payroll taxes
• Prepare and complete semi-monthly payroll to all employees, including CRA reporting
• Manage company health and welfare benefits program
• Review and approve employee expenses on an as needed basis (such as per diem expenses, education compliance, use of company vehicles and other stipends, etc.)
• Perform any other job-related duties assigned by the Controller/CFO and management.

Requirements as a Financial Accountant

What We Would Like You To Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CA, CGA, CMA or CPA designation
• Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, including ASPE and US GAAP
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including demonstrated proficiency creating/using pivot tables
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
• Experience with accounting systems is preferred
