Tech workers are in high demand in Canada, and the country has several programs in place to attract and retain skilled workers in the technology sector.

If you’re a tech worker looking to immigrate to Canada, here are some steps you can take to make the process as smooth as possible:

  1. Determine your eligibility: The first step in the process is to determine whether you are eligible to immigrate to Canada as a tech worker. You will need to meet certain criteria, such as having a certain level of education and work experience in a specific field.
  2. Choose the right program: Once you have determined your eligibility, you will need to choose the program that is best suited to your skills and experience. There are several programs available to tech workers, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Provincial Nominee Program.
  3. Gather the required documents: You will need to provide a variety of documents as part of your application, such as your education and work experience certificates, language test results, and a police clearance certificate.
  4. Submit your application: Once you have gathered all the required documents, you can submit your application to the relevant government agency.
  5. Wait for a decision: After you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for a decision to be made. This process can take several months, so it’s important to be patient.
  6. Prepare for your move: If your application is approved, you will need to prepare for your move to Canada. This will include arranging for a place to live, finding a job, and getting your affairs in order before you leave your home country.
  7. Get settled in Canada: Once you arrive in Canada, you will need to get settled in your new home. This will include finding a place to live, enrolling in a health plan, and getting a Canadian driver’s license.

Overall, the process may take several months, even a year, to complete and requires a lot of patience and persistence. But with the right approach, you can successfully immigrate to Canada as a tech worker and start building a new life in this great country.

Immigrate as a Tech Worker

Since we’re primarily concerned with IT professionals /  Teck Worker, we thought we’d compile a list of the most successful Canadian immigration schemes for Tech Workers.

1. Express Entry

The Canadian government endorses this service as a legitimate means of applying for immigration. The government of Canada is handling the evaluation and processing of this application.

Even though it’s a tough nut to crack, the Canadian Experience Class is a certain method to become a permanent resident of the country.

Starting from the time of receiving the application request, this application takes about six to twelve months to complete.

You may think this is a long time, but when compared to other routes, this is one of the easy and fast ways that get you into Canada and also offer you a permanent residency as a tech worker.

The program also has three (3) additional key economic programs:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  2. Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
  3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program handles the vast majority of Canadian immigration applications. People who meet the program’s requirements—including having a high level of education and substantial work experience—will be eligible to apply for a visa permit and permanent residence.

Tech employees that are interested in relocating to Canada may benefit from this program.

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program

Those who work in the technology sector in Canada for at least two years may apply for permanent residence under this program. The CEC categorizes these IT employees according to their years of experience and length of time in Canada.

  • Federal Skilled Trade (FST) Program

If you have proper education and certification in a skilled trade, then you are eligible to apply for a Canadian residency using the Federal skill trade program. As a tech worker, you can still apply for this, especially if you have good knowledge skills; it has become the second most successful rote that tech workers can use to get Canada permanent residency.

For a tech worker who wishes to move to Canada, there are good chances to make that happen, given the job opportunities available and the fewer immigration restrictions.

It will be easier to move to Canada if you have a job offer. A recommendation makes your Canada move less problematic. However, you can as well move to Canada without a job offer though this depends on the kind of job you are going for, your field, experience, and academic qualification.

In general, moving to Canada requires that you meet some specific basic requirements.

Some of them are:

  • Job Offer: An efficient and easy way to move to Canada is to have a job offer, particularly in your field of specialty.
  • Education Level: Having a quality education is also an advantage that can get you to Canada; you may only need a school diploma and a quality skillset, but having a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree can boost your chances.
  • For some countries, age can play a vital role in getting you to migrate to Canada.
